An excerpt from the 2008 Tombstone Trail Rules:

You will receive a map, some multiple-choice questions and a scorecard. The questions are organized in groups, divided by lines, each group containing a picture taken at a cemetery. Each cemetery is identified by a name and a number. The name is the name of a township and the number is the section number where you will find a cemetery on the map, marked with a symbol and an arrow. The list on page 6 will help you to familiarize yourself with finding cemeteries on the map.

Each group of questions can be answered at a single cemetery. Use the multiple choice answers to figure out at which cemetery the picture was taken. Then you can try to answer the other questions in that group at that same cemetery. You can answer any, all or none of the questions at each cemetery. The winner will be the team who answers the most total questions correctly in less than 3 hours.

Of course, we’ve set it up so that the most interesting cemeteries have the most questions. In general, the questions at each cemetery are listed in general order of difficulty. You’ll find that a cemetery with only one question (the picture question) is usually pretty easy. By the time you get to the third or fourth question at a cemetery, they can be getting harder.

All questions are worth the same number of points. It’s up to you to decide whether to visit a lot of cemeteries for easy points, or to spend more time in fewer cemeteries, collecting points that way.
